The Munich high end show 2010 was the backdrop for Gryphons 25th. anniversary celebration. To mark the special event, the mighty Poseidon system was on active display and despite the usual negative show conditions - poor power and acoustics that changes with the ever changing amount of enthusiastic listeners - it was a great setup by Slovenian über audiophile Robert Tisnikar. A number of clinics about music and listening theory was done by Al Jones, writer/editor of the new Gryphon 25 years anniversary book. Gryphon celebrates 25 years anniversary at High End 2010, May 6 - 9 in Munich releasing a 144-page hardcover book. The book is edited by Albert L. Jones with a foreword by renowned audio writer Ken Kessler. Not many of the brands that defined the cutting edge in stereo a quarter of a century ago are still standing tall with their reputations fully intact and the original guiding force still at the helm. The rarity of such an event is all the more cause to celebrate the silver anniversary of Danish Gryphon Audio Designs. Having almost single-handedly taken High End styling out of the garage workshop and into the art gallery with his radical designs at no compromise in performance, Gryphon founder Flemming E. Rasmussen has a lot to celebrate. In Munich Flemming and his team are looking forward to meeting customers and partners without whom Gryphon would not have made it this far. "Along with sheer power, I also experienced an exquisitely cultured and sophisticated sound; the brasses were just as metallic as they needed to be, while the string parts resolved the tension built up at peak moments in gentle waves. The aural space extended way beyond the boxes to the sides - it is only a minor exaggeration to say that my entire room was turned into a concert hall. A huge volume of air was in motion; at some moments it seemed that the sound was not coming from the boxes but from the rear wall."
